A/C furnace replacement

We have a 2000 Palm Harbor with a Nordyne unit. Its been a headache from day one...

The latest is that the furnace unit has melted wiring and is officially dead. My husband is adamant about not putting another similiar unit in it because he feels we will have the same problem as before, condensation, leaking pan, flooded carpet, ruined sheetrock, etc. I feel that we just had a bad unit from the beginning.

I looked at a Coleman unit that looks similiar to ours and thought it might be a good replacement. He feels that a packaged unit will be better. We are planning to sell and move in 6 months so I dont feel that we should invest in the packaged unit.

My husband is an electrical contractor and remodeler so maybe he knows best....

Is there anyone with experience in this that can make a recommendation?

Most likely you just got a bad unit. Coleman is a popular furnace for manufactured homes and would serve you well. I'm not sure what you mean by 'packaged unit', but you can easily add central air to a Coleman furnace. The condensor sits outside and the evaporator (a-coil) sits in the furnace.

If you bought from a PH owned store..you may very well have extended coverage of this applaince..

Check your paper work closely..or call your dealer and ask..
