We just bought a 1980 mobile home....
We are having to do some repairs, and found this site VERY helpful to me, but one thing that I still need answered is about doors.
I need to replace the front door, and WANT a metal door with the full view storm door, what I need to know is where do I go to get this.
I was told that LOWES hed them, but when I looked I couldn't tell which one I needed, How do I measure to know what size door I need, and where is the best place to get one.
Thank you
Sarah

Re: 1980 MH, repair
I have had pretty good luck with Home Depot.. I have found some that the store carries in stock, while I have also had to special order others from them. If you contact the store they should be able to tell you what measurements they will need from you.

Re: 1980 MH, repair
Measure the door and then call around. Remember that the door size and the 'rough opening' aren't the same, the rough opening is usually about 2" larger.
Mobile home doors are an odd size, so most home stores don't carry them. Any mobile home supply store will, but they aren't cheap when compared to simular standard sized doors.
If you can increase the rough opening to take a standard width entry door (36"), you will increase your door options greatly, unless you've got less than an 8' ceiling (very likely in a 1980 model), your door options again get narrowed. MOST wood doors can be cut down, most steel doors cannot.
When I had the door on my old place replaced (metal (aluminum)) and storm door with sliding window, it was about $350ish for the door from a mobile home supply.
