Hi,
I have an 80 Shult and want to install window shutters I am making myself out of wood. The problem is that I am not sure about how to attach them. Anytime I start to put a screw anywhere, I always wonder if I am going to hit a wire, especially on outside walls. The shutters will be wider than factory shutters, and a little heavier which will require more than just sheet metal screws. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you make sure you screw them to the existing studs you shouldn't hit any wiring.Wiring may run thru a stud but it won't run on the outside of one.

Most Manufactured Home builders I know of run the wire under windows, the only exception being above a patio, or exterior door to service the light switch. You can also purchase a wire locator at your local building supply center that will detect live wires in the wall. They are priced under $20.00

Wires run through studs are required by code to have nail protection over them. Usually either a metal plate, or a piece of steel piping run through the stud.

The metal plates will stop most hammer driven nails before penetration, as you can sense you hit something. It won't stop a drywall screw though, or a nailgun.
