New or newish 10x50's

Post by Gail » Fri Apr 16, 2004 11:15 pm

Does anyone know of a company making new 10 x 50 homes? Old park with lots of seniors that don't want much space or expense but no one can find them. Don't want to go to campers or travel trailers. Any other ideas? We have been rebuilding the insides of homes but the outsides are getting shabby. Can we add vinyl siding or something to them? Thanks Gail

No one is making homes in those sizes that I'm aware of. You can change the exterior to vinyl if you so desire. However, with older homes, its likely to be more expensive than just putting on the siding. They may need sheathing put up and or repairs done. Be sure to check with your county services, they usually have programs for seniors to help out with improvements. I understand the situation these folks are in, but what really should be done is to sit down and do the math on these upgrades to decide if its really cost effective to do this. They will never get their money back on these upgrades due to the age of the homes. Thats a decision only they can make. Tom

Thanks, we are working on some ideas to help the Sr.Citizens. I favor putting in windows (usually really necessary in Ohio winters in these older homes, roof coating, some kind of additional insulation and then the vinyl siding with a deal where it reverts to the park when they cannot live there any more. We need the homes that size, they need to stay in their homes and when they can't be there, personal items out, we can redo the inside and rent to Sr. Citizens. The Owner is thinking it over. I feel we owe these people what we can do to help them stay in these tiny homes they treasure. We will see how it goes. Thanks for the practical advice. Gail
