adding a room
adding a room
We are adding a screened room - the problem is with the existing mobile home - the outside siding is a "wave" pattern. There is also ridges about 1/3 of the way down and 1/3 of the way up. We you level a board against the home, there are gaps because of the siding. Do you have any suggestions as to how to fill in these gaps? They are much too large for any type of caulk or filler, etc. Thank you for your help.
Re: adding a room
Try that expanding foam in the aerosol can. It can fill a really large gap as it expands a bunch.
fix up or buy new
is it better to fix up an older mobilehome the year is 1974 or is it better to buy new?
Re: fix up or buy new
Depends on a lot of considerations. If you can afford new, in this case I would say do that. You never get alot of return on repairs and add ons in older homes. Consider repo's also, there can be some good buys out there if your careful and do your homework. Tom
Re: fix up or buy new
My advice is--from personal experience--do not use your time and money to fix up such a old home, especially if it is your primary residence, not just a vacation-cabin-sort of thing (think "Money Pit"). If you can't afford brand-new, at least buy newer. If you can buy from a private owner that you know took good care of his home, that would be helpful. If you buy new, spend your money on upgrades like extra insulation, etc., not on the fancy-dancy cutesy features. Just my two cents' worth....
