moving a 1992 double-wide

Hi everyone,
Haven't posted before, but have been reading this site.

What are the odds of moving a 1992 Fairmont Friendship double wide without doing major damage to it? I've been told that it can cause cracks in the walls and serious structural damage. Is it worth it? Where do I find a mover?

I've already done some decorating, so I don't want to ruin the work.

Also, I've installed ceramic tile in the kitchen and main bath. Will moving it crack the tile? What about laminate wood flooring, I have that in the DR.

Any help appreciated.

Sue,

Lots of missing factors here..
1) You asked for a mover?----For what state
1) How far are you moving it? The longer the trip "roads, hills, bumps" the worse
2) Are the axles, tires still in place and what kind of shape are they in?
3) Exterior siding and shingles: Will have to be removed, replaced and matching paint, or making sure siding is marked correctly for reinstallation.
4) possibly cutting carpet seams inside and reseaming
5)Gutters would have to come down
6)Floor insulation and wrap "if installed" in tact
7)Regrouting cracks, repairing Tape Textured "T/T" walls.

Just take a look at everything that has to come apart as needing put back together, in addition to possibly repainting all marriage wall seams if your home is tape/textured and painting matching. If home is just trimmed out, you cant afford to break any trim for fear of matching.

Im not trying to discourage you from moving the home, but people dont seem to realize how much work they wind up doing, to get the home back in the shape it was prior to tearing it down.

Homes get moved from one location to another all the time, it just depends on what its worth to you and the amount your willing to spend getting it done.

As for a mover, you need to look in the yellow pages under Manufactured Home Movers and ask a couple for bids..

Hope this helps.
