replace window in bathroom shower

Post by Marty » Mon Feb 16, 2004 11:29 pm

Hi, We have a 1966 Fleetwood single wide. It has a crank style window with slats of rectangular glass in the bathroom tub and shower. We want to put in a new tub surround enclosure as the old one has peeling paint?? The corner metal molding pieces that run vertically seem to be permanently fixed so we hope to just leave them there and work around them with the new tub surround. We also want to cut out a hole in the new surround to leave a window there. We wish to replace the existing window with a new one that won't leak into the side wall of the home as the original one does whether it is open or closed! Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank-you

Susan

I'm don't have any info on replacing your window, but we have a window in our bath/shower at home. We also had peeling paint, so bought a 3 piece tub surround, & cut out a hole for the window, & used lots of silicone around the window. I bought a cheap, clear/frosted shower curtain & cut it for the length of the window and hung it over the window on a plastic coated curtain rod so water doesn't get to the wood trim. When the curtain gets the soap scum, I take it down & throw it in the washing machine. 8 yrs later so far so good...Hope this helps!
