Termites

Post by Debi Murphy » Thu Feb 12, 2004 8:00 am

I am purchasing a 1989 Hallmark. The home has some termite damage that has been classified as level 2 (means the seller does not have to fix it). The walls are made from ? T-11. I have noticed that the window sill is soft. Where can I get replacement siding if I need to replace the wall. Are manufactured homes any more suseptible to termites than stick built?

You can put up any type of siding you wish as long as it not too heavy. Most conventional siding will work. Mh are not any more suseptible, but are somewhat less forgiving to damage, Ie a stick built has better wood thickness. One note, I would not buy a home of any kind with termite damage without a complete inspection by a experienced repairman. Hidden damage can come back to bite you later on and turn what seems like a good deal into a costly nightmare. Tom
