mh floors

Post by betsey palmer » Sat Jan 31, 2004 5:51 pm

I have an older (1970s) single wide and find that the floors are sagging around the heating vents set in the floor as well as whereever an interior wall meets the floor
(interior bedroom/bathroom divider wall), wall between laundry alcove/dining room, one major sag in bedroom around heater vent in middle of floor. Help!!! What is under these floors that I can reinforce? Is it a do-it-yourself job? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, the cause is the flooring itself has deteriorated and cannot be reinforced. A cheap option is to lay plywood over the old flooring. But the best option would be to replace the floors with plywood. A person with decent carpentry skills could do this job. If your interested there is a book available with pictures and descriptions of replacing a floor at www.mobilehomerepair.com Click on the Books and Parts link on the top toolbar when you go there.
