MH wiring

Post by Johnny Hall » Mon Nov 17, 2003 4:34 pm

Hello, We have a 1995 fleetwood weston 14x52 and i want to install medicine cab towel bars and such in bathroom. i have removed the wall plates from the switches and gfi plug but cannot tell if wiring runs down to floor or up and into ceiling.

i really dont want to run a screw through any wires. is there any way to tell where the wires run? or does any one know if they go up or down. thanks in advance for any advice. sincerely john hall

They usually stay with the closest stud to the outlet. You should be fine if you screw in to the wall studs.

John,

For a couple bucks, Home Depot and others sell a device "battery operated" tha test for live wires in the wall. Make sure you have your light switch in the "ON" position as the power travel through the wires from the swith to the bulb.

Hope this helps!
