Texturing walls

Post by Dani » Mon Nov 10, 2003 8:37 pm

My husband and I are signing the contract on our first mfg. home tomorrow. It's a 1999 model, I can't remember who the mfg. is though. My question is, are there any specific hints/tips/advice on taking the "strips" off the walls and taping them and then texturing the wallpapered looking stuff? Do I proceed like it's bare sheetrock? Any advice is really appreciated! Thanks!

If your going to texure the walls, clean them with tsp or a like product. You can just fill the gaps with joint compound or paintable caulk, sanding and smoothing as needed. There is a video on texturing walls if your interested, go to http://www.mobilehomerepair.com and click on the books and parts link.

Did anyone try this procedure? We just bought our first manufactured home and that is the only thing that I can't stand. Does anyone know the approximate cost and amount of time. We are pretty handy but this is the first informatin I've found on this specific topic.

Thanks!
