MH heating system
MH heating system
I have a Four Seasons home and overall am satisfied, but it seems that my heating system sucks! I'm not sure if its a draft problem or the system is insufficient. I have to keep my thermostat to 75 to keep the house about 70, I have alot of windows in my kitchen so its always colder in there. Is this typical?? I also notice that on windy days my windows squeak. I dont want to put plastic up on my windows cause it looks like crap, and my house is 1 year old. Any information would be appreciated.
Re: MH heating system
If this is a double wide or better, check and make sure crossover ducting bags"if equiped" are not kinked.
If the home is a single wide with heat registers in a straight line you can remove a register at the end of the home, lay a flashlight in the register and then from the other end of the home use a mirror and look down the duct line to see if you have any dents or obstructions.
Remove the thermostat and add insulation around the thermostat. If you have drafts in the wall cavity. You may be getting a false reading.
Windows are like anything else. You get what you pay for. They can range from low end aluminum to high end vinyl

Re: MH heating system
Is this a large home? (square footage wise?)
Is there one room that is warmer than the other?
If so, try closing the heat registers in the warmer room.
Is there a heat duct located nearby the thermostat? If so, close that register, or get a deflector to redirect the air.
I had this in my first home, the register was directly below the thermostat. I could never get the house warm until I installed a deflector.
The windows squeak on windy days? I dunno what that would be.
