water leak from dishwasher
water leak from dishwasher
I just bought a new Champion home a week ago and I ran the dishwasher while at home and didn't notice any problems. Subsequenlty i was gone for four days and came back to find water under my kitchen cabinets, dishwasher, stove and all the way to dining room carpet. There was standing water under dishwasher and stove. They said they fixed it, but what should I worry about in terms of the floor and the wet cabinets and wet carpet? Should I worry about mold and the integrity of the floor and wall? I also saw water all the way back to the drywall. should I worry about water getting on the drywall and possibly under the floor? I am still under warranty
Re: water leak from dishwasher
Well, its definately something to keep an eye on, but if the water didn't sit there for too long, you're probably okay. One good thing about manufactured homes is that the lino goes all the way to the edge of the home, under cabinets and under walls. So the water has to sit there for a long time usually before it can do any damage.
On thing to check is to make sure that there is no wate rin the belly - thats the blacks stuff holding up the insulation under your home. Really, its a good idea for all manufactured home owners to periodically inspect the underside of their home for sections that are drooping alot, and rodent damage. Keep in mind that the weight of the insulation will cause the belly to sag, but water will cause the belly to stretch and if there is enoug water, it will eventually sag all the way to the ground. If you do find evidence of water sitting in the belly, cut slits in the belly to allow the water to drain out (this is a good time to be wearing a wet suit) and call you manufacturer if you're under warranty at the time. If you're out of warranty, find a local plumber the can repair your type of plumbing system, or check out your local Home Depot or similar store for what they've got for repair on unusual plumbing systems, meaning, PEX, polybutylene, CPVC - many stores can help you repair the leak by switching the damaged area from your existing system to a more commonly used type.
