Mold under vinyl floor

Post by Tropicalcats » Sat Sep 28, 2019 11:46 pm

I purchase a double wide that sat empty for about 4 years. All and all is was in pretty good shape considering. I know that I need under pinning done and with that said let me ask this.
I had a couple soft spots which I went over with 3/4 plywood as suggested by the contractor who did the work. Since we had not decided on a floor for that area I took a piece of vinyl flooring I had left from another room and just put it over the new subfloor. When I went to move it, it had mold underneath on the piece of vinyl and on the floor. What could cause that? Should I be concerned about the floor I already put down ?
I live in central floor so needless to say it was hot this summer but it’s cool in the house and not humid.

If the mold and moisture has rotted the subfloor or penetrated deeply enough to resist removal, replace the subfloor. Saturate the material to weigh down the mold spores then cut through the flooring with a reciprocating saw. Bag and remove the affected flooring. Attach new subflooring, cut to fit, with screws every 8 to 10 inches along the floor joists.
