Ceiling Fan Installation?

So here is the deal. I recently purchased and moved into a 1999 Golden West 27'x60' double-wide. Upon inspection of the "attic" through the bedroom light fixture I have discovered the trusses are made from 2x2 spaced at 24" with what looks to be only 1x2 "joists" which the 1/2" sheetrock is secured directly to. Does anyone have any ideas how I would reinforce this for a basic ceiling fan/light? ( I don't mind cutting out a section of the sheet rock to accomplish this task.)

Hi Andrew: Yes I had the same issue with my double-wide, except my trusses are 16" on center. Get a good 1"-11/4" thick x 8-10" piece of finished wood. Cut it about 4" longer on each side then your truss span. SO, if your ceiling box is in the center of your truss span your board would be 32" long. In the center of your board cut out the shape of your ceiling box opening , maybe 1/4" bigger all around. So you mount this board with 2 strong screws in each truss they lay on. Then you mount your fan to this board not the actual box. You will have to be resourceful and can decorate and custom size your board and cover your screws with plugs, etc..This set up worked fine for me, with a medium size fan, for > 20 years. Fran

First you have to install clamp for hanging your fan. After that you have to go with electric wiring which should done to make on and off the fan functioning.
