Squeaky floors

Post by jorge1958 » Fri Apr 13, 2012 8:33 pm

Just bought a 1995 Skyline Double wide mobile home. The floors really seem to squeak in almost every room. The crawl space underneath has plastic laid on the ground and all is dry. i had the home professionally inspected before I bought it and all checked out good. I am remodeling this place and am getting ready to have new carpet installed. but i would like to get the floors quiet first. Any idea what I can look for?

If he floor is not evenly supported it will have decking that is not sitting flat which can cause flor squeaks. Are your doors ad windows difficult to open and close??? It is probable that your home is out of level.

When I was doing factory warranty service calls over 80% of the problems we encountered were corrected by re-leveling. Find several local licensed installers and ask each to stop out and give you prices to re-level.

Become a better-informed consumer and give yourself the upper hand when it comes to hiring a contractor to do the job..... see https://ssl.mobilehome.com/mfdhousing/m ... de=&sesid=
