shade arbor for porch

We have a 1997 Palm Harbor and already has a concrete patio out front.
We want to add a shade arbor over patio.

Is there anything special we need to know about attaching it to the house? It has this fragile looking faux-wood siding. I personally want a pergola, which could be free standing, but my husband is holding out for the covered shade roof attached to house in standard way.

Does anyone have any advice?
