Last night while perusing the internet and researching frozen pipes I found something called RedyTemp ATC-3000. They are advertising that it can prevent freezing pipes without the use of heat tape. They run about $325, which I figure is about what it would run me around here to have someone replace my heating tape and insulation on my home that is 28' X 70'.
Has anyone ever heard of it? Does it really work on preventing freezing pipes? Apparently it is hooked up under the sink that is the farthest from the hot water heater, and basically keeps hot water running through the pipes so you don't have to wait forever for the water to turn from cold to hot at the faucet. It's supposed to save money on water wasted during that wait as well.
I'm going to do some more research but thought I'd start here and see if anyone has ever heard of it or has any experience with it. Their website is www.Redytemp.com.
Thanks to all.
P.S. frozen pipes are my biggest fear in this house.
