Removing partial wall

Post by mclean3815 » Mon Nov 24, 2008 4:31 pm

Hi we have a 1982 double wide mobile home, we have added a 22 by 40 addition along the front, where our existing living room is we want to open it up to overlook the new living room, we knew we needed a beam because it is a load bearing wall. The span we are removing is only 10 to 12 feet wide and the trailer is 44 long so its a small space, question is whats the best way to tie the beam in so it is properly suppoerted?? any help would be great if a pic is needed i will try to get one.

thanks tina

You would follow the same steps as if you were going to install a new sliding glass door or any other opening in a framed wall. There is a great tutorial with excellent photos you can see HERE
