New Bathtub Ptrap

Ok, I decided to hook up new bathtub pop up drain to existing ptrap, and read your article and realized I could have issues. I did use plumbers putty between tub and drain and then a washer on bottom of tub before nut.

i have leaking at

p trap swivel (no washers provided in existing p trap when I looked)

joing of elbow and drain pipe

on drain just above metal nut somewhere around the washer

I did not use that good teflon putty on the bottom nut that screws up to the washer on the bottom, should I use it.

SHould I also use this teflon putty on the enture drain piece so that the swivel piece screws into it.

I am assuming I need a couple washers for the swivel piece?

I assume I should get one of the washers you use between tub and fixture you sell and install?

Does this happen very often, I was very discouraged..
