Bathtub PEX connection

Post by larrybr45 » Mon Mar 12, 2007 9:33 am

Looking to changeout old Poly and plastic fittings on bathtub. I have poly to pex connector. Fixture is 1/2 brass input. The PEX shutoff valve I have is 1/2 input and 3/8 on the output side. I can buy a flexible faucet connector (wire mesh outside type) that has 3/8 on the input side and 1/2 on the output side to match the input requirements of the faucet.

Question is, will this reduce waterflow too much, having 3/8 out of the shutoff valve but faucet requires 1/2? Do I need to get a 1/2 shutoff valve somewhere so the flow of water does not get restricted?

thanks

The flex connectors are a good idea... just get the best ones they have so that they dont kink over the years.

The 1/8 reduction your talking about will increase the pressure so the volume reduction should not be noticeable
