last question - flooring?

Post by metallikitty » Mon Aug 21, 2006 2:01 pm

First of all - this references my first question somewhat - I have assumed that leveling is necessary (if needed) prior to drastically changing flooring in a MH (w2w carpet to wood look & tile in most main living areas).

What I need to know is, is ceramic tile allowable or would I need to use vinyl for tiled areas; and what types of wood genre flooring are usable in a MH?
Am I limited to laminates or is hardwood possible?

sorry for the barrage of questions; I just measured SF for redecorating and would like to know what my options are before I start pricing and planning...

thanx again!

Hi,

No ceramic. No stick-down vinyl squares. Sheet vinyl is my preference, but first an underlayment will need to be put down. Laminated flooring is also OK because it 'floats' and doesn't have to be nailed down anywhere. I'd be leary of the hardwood flooring because if your home shifts, you might have some unsightly seems or bulges.

Bruce now makes a floating engineered hardwood flooring. It's called Coastal Woodlands and comes in 25 different finishes. We're installing it in our manufactured home in a few weeks. I'll post pictures of the results.
