My Home was built in 11/04 and sometime after I moved in I discovered part of the kitchen floor to be slightly dipping. I had the dealer come and take a look and the guy tighted something under the house and it improved slightly. He said that was all he was able to do and to see how it worked out for me. Now a few months later the slopping floor it getting on my nerves. I have a china cabinet against that wall and every time we walk by the cabinet rattles because the floor is not even. I called the dealer to say that this needs to be fixed and as the woman was reading the notes about the last visit it said there was a bowed floor joist. What exactly does this mean and what will need to be done to correct the situation?
Thanks for any replies.

Re: Bowed Floor Joist
It means that one of the floor joists bowed. The manufacturers use a number 3 grade Southern yellow Pine lumber, which is inexpensive and has a tendancy to bow or warp.
It is an easy repair, they need to cut the bowed joist right at the bend, and glue and nail a new peice of floor joist along side the cut, they repair the bottom board.
Put your request in writing to the dealer and send one to the manufacturer as well.
