What is considered normal problems for a new home?

Post by Debbie » Thu Jun 09, 2005 5:37 am

We bought a 2004 Nobility cedar home, it was to be our dream home instead it's been a nightmare. We have duct tape covering gaps in our french doors.to the outside. We have nails coming up thru the flooring in the kitchen. also we can feel nails sticking up underneath the carpet. We have a double fireplace with a warped counter around it..light switches that do not work. They did have a handyman/ with electrical knowledge hook up a couple of things so it would pass Fha inspection. We were told the wires were not hooked up at factory. Does a electrician need to be called instead of there handyman? We have a list of 35 things wrong with our home but now that they have there money they are very rude to us. All they say is this is very common. Everyone no matter what manufacture it is has these problems

Next thing I would do is tell them that you are going to contact a lawyer. If they dont satisfy you I would contact one.
You may also try to contact your local fire marshal.

Are you paying for repairs or are they?
Have you had experience with other manufactured homes before?

Nobility is one of the oldest publicly traded companies in the business...They build a middle of the road home...not the best or the worst..There may well be others who might be a better value....Nobility has sold thousands of home over the years..most of which have happy owners....If you look hard enough..you will find negative feedback about every manufacture or builder for that matter...To get better advice about what to look for in a home..visit the bookstore here and invest in one of the books listed there this would be a very small investment compared to all the heartache an uninformed purchase can cause...Remember your choice of dealer is more than half of your future satisfaction...the original poster here refers to her calls with problems and rude treatment..most likely she is talking to the dealer..

Take your time...get up to speed about homes..investigate the dealers you are talking to...Buy a home your that will serve your family well and enjoy...Go for it soon before prices rise much more..
