leveling and walls
leveling and walls
We are in need of having our doublwide leveled but are afraid that this will cause our taped and floated walls to crack at the seams. Is this a possibility and if so is there anything that can be done to lessen the chance of this happening?
Re: leveling and walls
It's all how you move the home. If you lift the home with one jack then your more likely to put some bad pressure on things. Always lift the home using several jacks. And don't lift any area more than 1" a day. Lift an inch, let things settle, then lift some more in a day or two. Today I saw where a dealer assembled a used doublewide and they popped all the panels along one marriage wall. Everyone is still scratching their head over that one.
When moving and lifting a home, there's no guarantee that you won't get any damage, but doing it right will definitely help minimize any damage that may happen.
The manual I wrote does have a chapter on releveling your home step by step.
