Help finding schematics

Post by Steve Phillippy » Thu Jun 30, 2005 12:21 pm

I have acquired a mobile home made in 1980 by "Young American Homes", which was located in Wingate, Pa. My problem is - they tell me this company is no longer in business, and my township needs the schematics of the home in order to issue a permit to put in footers at its new location. Any one know where I can find the info I need. Thank you.

Hi,

Your probably not going to find a blocking print on this home, so hopefully your city opts to go with HUD code instead, which I believe states that footings should be placed every 8' or so. This should be fine for singlewides, but if you have a doublewide you'll want to post back.

The basic is every 8 foot starting no more than 2 feet in from each end. Is this a single or double wide? Doors leading into the home, openings over 48 inches are to be supported perimeter blocking wise on both the latch and hinge sides too.

Doublewide-where is your mating line? if you don't know, measure inside and block under the joint/mating line/marriage line (whatever you want to call it) whenever you have the walls meeting to support the weight of that home in the center. The ridge beam support. Try this site.

This all presumes that your base foundation is acceptable too. If you are blocking on dirt, sand, old RR ties, etc. all bets are off.
