A/C in Arizona

We live in Phoenix, Az and this is our first summer in a manufactured house.
Now that summer is here and the temps are about 110, the a/c unit works (constantly blowing cool air) but never cools it to the requested temp. For example, right now it's 104 outside and the coolest it has been since this a.m. is 86---even though it's set at 80. It's not a problem at night---the requested temps are achieved.

Any ideas?

You didn't say anything about the age, size or construction of your home.

Poor insulation is the most likely culprit. If your home is not adequately insulated, it will be cold and drafty in winter, and will be difficult to cool in summer.

If it is a newer home, or you know it is adequately insulated, then you could have a problem with your A/C system. Air conditioning systems should be serviced every year, especially in hot desert climates that place a heavier demand on your cooling system.

The best thing to do is call a qualified heating and cooling (HVAC) contractor that has manufactured home experience, and have them check out your system to make sure it is functioning correctly. If it is, it is either undersized for your application and needs, or you have an insulation problem.

THE size is a factor as well as the size of the A/C unit 2ton? 3ton? It makes a big difference.

I live in Phoenix also, and am having the same problem. We had a new A.C. installed 2 weeks ago and it has helped only to lower the temp by a few degrees. We have an older 24x56 with a metal roof. It is suggested we replace the roof with an insulated one (Aluma-roof) costly at $5200. If anyone knows of a less expensive way I would be glad to hear from you.
