floors

I have a 1987 Palm Harbor 16x70 mobile home that I need to refloor.I was told I could add 3/8 plywood over the particle board floors that came in the trailer. Can I do this OK. Are the 2x6 floor joist strong enough to hold up the extra weight. Tearing up the old floors would be a nightmare.

The 2x6 floor joists will have no problem with the added weight. But overlaying your floor with 3/8" won't accomplish much. If you are going to overlay, use 5/8 or 3/4 so if the old floor does give away, you won't notice it. Of course best case scenerio is to remove the old flooring and put down new.

Good luck!
