I have a doublewide made by skyline and I was wondering is it possibl to add a second floor onto a doublewide? I know it would need my supports but not sure what or if it is even possible. I would like to add a loft over looking the living room.
Thanks
Jackie

Not without some heafty modifications that would probably make the upgrade not very cost effective. The costs of this upgrade would make a very nice downpayment on a stick built house or a new MH with more room. I have seen this done by only a very few professional contractors. So if your determined to go forward, call around and see even if you have someone in your area that is experienced in this type of modification. Once you see the costs, it may sway you to try plan B. I wanted to add, it may be actually cheaper and easier to put the home on a full basement. Tom

Thanks Tom for your input. question on the basement. I have already put an attached sunroom on so can I put a full basement in without moving the MH?
Thanks again

Going to have to defer to Mark on the final question. Want to make sure you get the correct answer. Tom

Nope, you'll at least have to lift the home up to get underneath to dig-out a basement. I saw a guy dig his own basement that way. He dug it out with two skidsteers from his construction business. You'd probably be cheaper off to set the home off to the side while the basement is being dug.
