Anyone tried this new skirting??

Post by J. Jay » Fri Nov 12, 2004 8:58 am

Hi:

We are considering ordering this "Hoffman Precast Concrete --- System One Concrete Skirting" for our 72 x 27 doublewide. It is currently on pillars with vinyl? skirting.

We are looking at this instead of raising up the house and digging footers and installing concrete block foundation.

Has anyone used this product? Any comments? Any suggestions?

The price for the materials, shipping and installation for our size home is approximately $4000.

Thanks for your input
JJay and Kim

Hoffman's System-1 is what skirting should be- 100% solid concrete. System-1 is not an imitation or a look alike – it is the original concrete skirting system that resists the elements from the summer heat of Texas to the harsh winters of Minnesota. System-1 is built to last and is designed to stay put for years of dependable service.

Look at just some of the benefits System-1 provides you. FInd Photos and Details at thier website www.ConcreteSkirting.com

Concrete is structurally sound, no denying that. But isn't skirting only cosmetic? if so then a product as such as Nova-brick, (concrete based) a more pleasing- to- the eye solution? It is probably about hte same cost if not less, depending on the vendor.

I used stoneskirt on my home and it is a 28 x 40 . The cost was about $2500 delivered. It was really easy to put on . You can see it at www.stoneskirt.com .

Yes, I have just finished a 52X28 home with it. Friday 19th Nov. You get what you pay for and for the money System 1 is the best. It saved me 1/2 of the price of a footing and blocks. When all is said and done the flowers and shrubs will be hiding most of the siding. But the strength and the longevity of this product makes it superior to anything that I have researched.
Please feel free to email me for more information.

One question for all of you, by using this solid concrete system, how are you providing the required ventilation under the home?

Manufacturer's required 1 sq foot of free air per every 150 sq feet of floor area, that's an awfull amount of ventilation.

If your crawl space is not ventilated, the only place ground vapor has to go is your home and you will have problems, guaranteed.

STAY AWAY FROM SOLID SKIRTING!
