mixing water and mud

Could you please help?
How much water do I need to add to a five gallon bucket of sheetrock { mud }.
I want to shoot it with a Hopper on to my walls.

I guess I've never measured how much. I just kept adding until the mix seemed like soft-serve icecream. If it doesn't flow well through your machine, you know its too thick. If you wish to mix all 5 gallons at once, you'll need to use a bigger bucket.

I also recommend priming the wall before texturing to ensure the texture doesn't fall off.

Concider practicing with a couple of sheets of cardboard or plastic sheeting. When you get it to look how you want it - then thats how much water you need!
