Clad Board siding and rot

Post by Denny » Sat Oct 16, 2004 11:02 am

I own a small mahufactured home Park Model and have discovered wood rot from a leaking water tank. It has spread to the exterior siding in and around a window frame and other siding below it. Maybe an area about 6-8 sq ft at the max.
I am considering just cutting out the rot and replacing it with something as a patch.

What advice might you have, and if this the right way to go about it?

Tom

Matching is going to be tough. But this product is probably your best bet. There is a section on the site to find a dealer near you. http://www.hardie.com/homeowner/prodhome/default.php

One thing to keep in mind, depending on how old your siding is now, the type you have has a history of failure if its the original. There was even a lawsuit involved I believe. So you might consider replacing all of it. Tom
