garden tubs

My 1974 double wide has a garden tub in a huge bathroom, with an area next to the tub for plants, I suppose. It's deep and quite large and could hold a lot of plants!

What have people done to decorate this "planting" area? Perhaps all garden tubs don't have this accompanying area, I'm not sure.

The previous owner has it full of plastic plants, which looks pretty tacky. I guess filling it with a plastic liner, rocks, planting soil and real plants could be done, but this sounds like a gigantic project!

I'd love to hear what others have done, assuming they have this "planting" area.

I've been in and out of hundreds of manufactured homes and never heard of a garden tub with a section for plants. So can't help you there. Not sure why anyone would want to hide their beautiful plants in the bathroom anyway. LOL

Thanks for writing, Mark. I guess the plants would get lots of good moisture in the bathroom? Anyway, it's an annoying area and looks tacky right now with all the plastic leaves.

It's an area beside the tub, about three feet by two feet, and at least one foot deep, so it has to be dealt with!

I sure hope someone writes that has some ideas!

I wonder if it was intended for a whirlpool attachment. Its too large for a place for soap and back scrubbers. I have never seen one either, so this has me intrigued. Tom

Well, it's to the side of the tub, so it could be taken away, for instance, and the tub would still be fine and the same shape, if that makes any sense. The only relationship it has to the tub itself is that it is on one side of the tub.
So it's not for a whirlpool or anything, I'm sure.
This is a 1974 Mobile Industries Lander home, if that helps. The seller said it was "top of the line" but this was the seller and I was skeptical, of course. M.I. went bankrupt and Clayton owns them now, I believe, so there's no way I can look up plans etc.
I wish someone were close to California so they could make a field trip and look at this challenging area!
Anyway, thanks for writing. Someone somewhere must have an idea..........You'd think someone would have seen one, such as Mark, who has visited hundreds of homes!

I've never seen one either but I have ferns in my bathroom. They look beautiful and they love the moisture from the shower.

I don't really know what your planter location is but I think I have an idea. I think I would try indiviual potted plants. It sounds like they would fitted right down in your indoor flower box and not be a big project to put in or take back out.

If your bathroom is well lighted, you could make that area into a rock garden, put in pool plants and add a solar fountain. The fountain gets its juice from the sun and there is no wiring needed.
