redoing walls
redoing walls
The manufactured home was built in 1990. I am trying to find out if I need to do something special to the walls before I paint them. It is hard to tell how the walls are done now. The have a pattern on them but it doesn't seem to be true wallpaper. It seems to be part of the wall.
Re: redoing walls
Probably the standard vinyl cover. Clean the walls squeeky clean first and formost, do NOT skip this step. Then prime with a good primer like Kilz or Zinnser. Then paint with the color of your choice. Tom
Re: redoing walls
I am painting all the walls in my home. We have lived in it for 5 years and love the home. The walls are white with little specks in it and both baths and kitchen have the grapevine crap. I used water based primer in the bedrooms and a oilbased primer in the bathrooms kitchen and utility room. This is a very important step. The first room I painted was the Master Bedroom. I didn't use primer on the bedroom walls and when I hung the pictures on the wall, the paint scratched off wherever anything just touched the wall. I primed the wall and repainted. It is beautiful and well worth the extra effort. Have fun. Cheryl
