Leaking Roof

Post by Dee » Sat Jun 05, 2004 3:05 am

We bought a mobile home three years ago and have water leakage in our bedroom. We planned to replace the roof tiles by adding another layer on top. Our Mobile Home Park administrator said we could not do this. This mobile home is a 1989 and I read during these years many mobile homes were built with very solid walls. Are their alternatives other than completely replacing the roof? Any feedback would be appreciated.

It is not advisable to do two layers for this reason. You probably have damage to your roof deck due to the continual leaks. I'm aslo in agreement with your manager, two layers of tile is a bit much, particulary if this is a singlewide. Tom

Are we talking about tiles, or shingles here? Eitherway, if the rest of the roof is in good condition and you dont want to replace it at this time, you can simply run a garden hose from the bottom towards the top of the roof line until you find where the water is entering the home and make temp. repairs once you have found the leak. Again, depending on your situation.
