vinyl siding

Post by gail hall » Sun May 16, 2004 8:54 pm

I'm looking to find an article that will verify the proper way to install vinyl siding over the existing metal siding. I was told if i remover the old siding it would lose it's hud certification .

I've also been told to fir out the trailer and to just insulate and instal without firing

Help!

Danny

Gail , the proper way to install the vinyl, is to remove the metal, install o.s.b. or blackboard and Then install the vinyl

Gail,

Ill try and do some research on your topic, but I agree with Danny that by removing the metal, adding OSB and replacing with vinyl, is the only way to go. You wont have the finished product being wavy siding.

This will also give you a chance to check your wall insulation, not to mention getting a good look at the shell for damage at the same time. Just do one side at a time, and keep a good eye on the weather forcast!

Good Luck
