Wall removal
Wall removal
Ive recently bought a 1987 16x80 Redman, Danville model MH, and would like to remove the closet which is right in front of the entry door. This wall and closet separates the kitchen and the front door and my wife would like it removed to open up the space in the kitchen which is kind of small and narrow. We would like to remove this and replace it with any island and several other kitchen remodeling items, my question is can this wall and clost be removed while retaining the structural integrity of the home. Will I have to place sometype of support beam at the end of the island or can it be left free standing?
Re: Wall removal
On most single-wides that I know of, the rafters set across the entire width of the home and rest on the outside walls. Therefore, I see no reason you cant move a couple of interior walls. You may want to make sure you have no dormer overhead though. This would account for any x-tra support that the walls you want removed may need to hold the additional load.
