"S" Type Truss System

Folks,

I previously made a post about a 1998 Commodore ( spelled it correctly this time) 14' x 55' home. This has to do with installing braces for a ceiling fan at the ceiling light location at the peak (it has cathedreal ceilings). The Commodore folks told me that it used "S" type roof trusses in the construction of roof system.

Can anyone tell me what the "S" type truss actually is. Are they made of wood (2x3)? Are they metal? My main concern is understanding what material the trusses are made of for the interface of the fan brace ( it's the kind of brace that you insert in the electrical box opening and unscrew to expand the bar until the ends of the the brace embeds the end points into the trusses - made for wood).

Hope someone has some first had experience in actually observing this type of structure and can give me an idea of what it is. Thanks for your patience.

Depending on what your roof load is will determine what size the rafters and spacing will be. I have seen rafter as small as (2x2) 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" and
(2x4) 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" and spacing from 16" o/c to 24" o/c

Bottom line----No matter what rafter size/spacing you have in the ceiling, you can install your ceiling fan without fear!
