Looking for help with a very big problem with a mobile home

Post by Sandra » Thu Mar 16, 2006 7:11 pm

My husband and I just bought a used Mobile home . That was last Wed. Today we have one mobile home in our name , one we have been promised to get into , and an apartment , yet we are actually homeless.
We bought our mobile home lease to own from a big dealer in town . We told them our ggas and water was still not on . They chose to close anyhow without doing a walk through . We didn't know any better . To make a very long story short . We were told we could move in Saturday , everything would be done , water on . Saturday morning the water was not on . My husband had to go to the office to get someone to come turn it on .. When it was , everything was leaking , the stove had the wrong connecter . Umong other things that had been promissed to be done . There was rust in the pipes , they said a plumber would blow out the pipes . That did'nt happen . Sunday night the pipe blew in the kitchen under the sink . Rust water sprayed everywhere .. Park maintence turned off the water , so we had to leave . We were finally given an out on our contract .. They showed us a different home on Monday , said it would be ready in the morning . Todaay Thursday we have an apartment with not much in it . A mobile home the furnace doesn't work , and another one utilities also in my name that needs 2 toilets . My family is as stressed out as can be , we have no home .We don't know where to turn . Does anyone know ?????????????

I would start by getting out of the contract, getting educated about the buying process, and starting over. No one can choose to close without your permission - you have to sign the closing documents.

I'd take time out and learn about the process before moving forward. It's too big a financial commitment not to take the time to study. There are books on this site that can help; also, Nolo Press has self-help books in this area.

Best of luck and be patient.

You are very lucky to have been let out of the first "AS IS" purchase...You will have to keep treasuring the seller to get the home ready for you.....Ask them to pick up your unusual expenses.....but keep the pleasure up until you are taken care of....

READ any more papers you are asked to sign...Take them to an attorney for review if you do not understand them....
