This sounds like you need local professional advice asap...Is this gap over a long part of the foundation..or a short part of the foundation.??...Is the problem with the house or the foundation...??..
I would suggest an inspection by someone you can trust for advice and suggestions..then bring these ideas to the builder and guage his response..Good Luck...maybe it is only a minor hitch..
Setting a modular can be a complex task...all has to be done exatly right..especialliy the foundation..Experienced and well funded contractors are needed.....

thanks Murray
the gap starts about 6ft down the front of the house and continues down the side
around to the back side.If you are up under the house you can see between the
house and foundation on 3sides....... a enginee from the factory came to check the house and said that the piers were of ,they made that adjustment but the house is stiil about 1/2-1inch off the foundation .The dealership has sub contractors doing the work, the crew that set the house are the ones being called back to tryto make it set right.
They (dealers) and the set crew think I should be happy with the way it is now.
and they want to finsh the job.......But the the house is not plum/level
What every happen to the house in its making or been forced into postion did internal damage, some of the walls are bowed and etc................
these people i am trying to work with tell me the house is structually sound
but they can not tell me why it is like it is????????????????
yesterday I taked to the" big man" and he said " its not a perfect world and modular homes are not perfect....(they do not say that in thier sales pitch!!!!!!!!!!)
I told him fo $XXX,XXX amount it should be damn near perfect and at least be
setting on the foundation..........
DO you think my local building inspector can help???????????
thanks.............

Does my story sound familiar to a local representative of a factory.I see he post here at time??????????????

Seems likely that for the most part the home should be sitting on the foundation..I am not an engineer...but why bother with the foundation if the house does not sit on it..
Local building inspectors are not much help..All they can do is refuse to give the final inspection...but seldom are they good enough to suggest a proper solution...
Set up stress damage can all be corrected...but seldom would the factory fix a dealer caused problem..this will leave you with the builder for all repairs inside.....
You should protect yourself now...find an independent engineer firm who can inspect the situation now and determine the cause of the problem..he should be able to tell what is wrong..be it the foundation, home of something else..or reassure you that all is well and normal...either case they will be well worth their fees..If nothing else for peace of mind... if the worse happens..they can be ready to testify in court if needed..

Doesn't sound like they got it right yet.Its normal during set up that the blocks are
a inch or so from the botttom of the steel but this is taken out with shims as the home is leveled in.If there is space between the blocks and home and they say they are finished they haven't got it right .Don't accept the work.A home with a bad foundation isn't going to last very long.

Tammy,
It sounds to me like it was a bad set from the set crew. I set and finish modular homes. This is a common occurence, but should not be as bad as you are describing. Is your foundation a block wall or a pre fab foundation? If itis a bad set the house will need to be relifted and set again. I hope this helps.
