Hello, I decided to change my line of work in 1989, 15 years of longhaul trucking had taken it's toll, and a desire to spend more time at home, prompted the change. I lived near the lake, in a small park, with both-mobile homes and RV's. The Parkowner operated a Marina, and sold new RV's, parts and supplys too. His son did the maintence, sold and installed the parts, and did the warrantee work for the new RV's. Unfortunately, not long after I moved into the park, his son suffered a seriously broken leg, and left the park owner short-handed. I hadn't decided, yet, How I was going to "Earn a living". But, I most certainly wasn't going back to driving, unless it was local work, which meant a serious cut in pay. Although, it wasn't an easy decision to live with, I was firm in my commitment to quit. So, when the Parkowner approached me with the offer to fill in until his son healed, I jumped at the offer. I knew it was only a temporary fix to my problem, but, "it was a Job", and something to do while I found my new nich. Little did I realize at the time, but, also an opportunity to learn a new trade. The son's leg took over a year to heal completely, and I was on my way to "My New Trade". The Parkowner took this as an opportunity to expand his business too. We started working on anything on wheels, with roofs, kitchens, and bathes, even in the ajoining states. At every chance, he sent me to the plants & factorys who built the RV's, Park-model Campers, and "Mobile Homes" he sold, and ask the Plant-managers to show me around, to see how they were built, what materials were used, and the proper methods of repairs, etc. The Park-owner is retired, has sold the businesses, and in ill health. "Thank You Mr. Brown", for the education, the job, your confidence in my ability, and the new career. May God Bless you!
