Homeowners insurance in Texas

Post by richard s » Sat Feb 13, 2010 12:07 pm

I have had Foremost Ins. for years. On a whim I thought I would see if I could get my manufactured home insured as a stick built. Went through my Farmers agent and they approved it. Under Texas law could they refuse a claim in the future because it isn't a stick built home? My agent reassured me that once it is written that Farmers is obligated. My concern is they may use a "if you don't ask we won't tell clause" to deny a claim. For example if I did occur storm damage they would deny because the home wasn't built to local code, if that was stricter than the HUD code. Thanks, any input is appreciated.

Your agent should be more up to speed on Texas insurance law than most here...I would listen closely to him and if not satisfied check with an insurance knowledgeable attorney...
