Another Newbie Insurance Question

Post by LT » Mon Aug 25, 2003 10:37 am

We are from New York State and have just recently had a purchase offer accepted on a 1993 MH which has an addition the same length and width of the original home. It has a woodstove in the addition and a factory installed propane fireplace in the original home. Both the home and addition are on a concrete slab, the house is on 11.2 acres and has private well and septic. We are moving from a much larger stick built home in suburbia for which we had "normal" homeowners insurance (100% Replacement and liability coverage). It appears that MH insurance is different from stick built, but can someone explain to me what exactly those differences are? Will it be possible to get coverage comprable to our current coverage on the stick built. What should I look for or look out for when trying to find an insurance company to insure our new home? Do the MH Insurance companies discriminate against certain breeds of Dogs (as do some others like Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, etc.) or other types of livestock, specifically having a Horse on your property? I would greatly appreciate any insight you may have for us. Thanks in advance.
