Insurance on older homes

Post by MicheleStickley » Tue Jun 22, 2021 8:15 am

Good Morning! My mobile is only about 3 years old, but I've been told that once it hits 20 I will be unable to buy homeowners insurance for it. Is that correct?? Thank you.

I would check with your Insurer for specifics but essentially, yes. The story was slightly different from different insurers that I spoke with.

I believe the home depreciates and they will no longer insure it. For newer homes it may be different, since they are manufactured differently than the old days, so they may have different rules and insurance policy's now.

I recently purchased a 1983 unit and was able to get it insured.. not for replacement of course. My insurance is through a state run program.

Hopefully the info. helps.

VB,
