Cargo insurance

Hi,
Got a question re cargo insurance principles.
Is it common for shipper to buy standard cargo insurance for the benefit of the owner. Do the shippier always have to buy carriers liability insurance. If the shipper buy standard institute clause coverage and indicate the cargo owner as a beneficiary of policy - will insurance company subrogate the loss from the shipper. If yes, is there any reason for shipper to buy this sort of insurance. Is waiver of subrogation rights common for such policies.

Would appriciate any help in this regard.

Sorry for my poor English.
Thank you in advance.
