We are looking for a knowledgeable Mobile Home inspector to look over a 1987 Jacobson in a M.H. village where one will also own the land. It is in a Palm Harbour,FL Mobile home village.Any leads as to where to find such a person?
Thanks, Sally

Mobile home inspection sound interesting. I am wondering if you can provide me with more information about this. I am involved in Los Angeles home inspector service and want to know more innovations in this domain.

Sally, great question. Mobile homes of that era often hide issues in the undercarriage and belly board. You’ll want an inspector who’s familiar with HUD Code construction (pre-1976 vs. post-1976) and the unique structure of a Jacobson.

I’m based in LA, and run my mobile home inspection in LA, a thorough check for subterranean termites and moisture damage in the subfloor and skirting. Even in Florida, those same principles apply.

I’d suggest looking for a Florida-licensed home inspector who also holds a pest inspection license (or works with one). You can search the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for certified pest control operators in Palm Harbour. Often the best mobile home inspectors come recommended by local repair contractors or park managers.
