I was talking with a guy that lives in a house in New Port Richey Florida.I asked about Manufactured Homes / Parks and hurricanes. He said hurricanes have destroyed homes/parks. He also said insurance is very high. I thought New Port Richey area was safe.
Thank you

Insurance costs are high in Florida. New Port Richey area may appear to be safe since there has been no major hurricane hit there in so many years. However, in the overall scheme of things, a hurricane can hit anywhere, just as a tornado can go anywhere. For definitive information, up to date statistics and details on the performance of manufactured homes throughout the last couple of years, please contact the Florida Manufactured Housing Association at 850-907-9111 and ask for free info - I think they also have a DVD to share.

There are many thousands (probably tens of thousands) of 60's and 70's model manufactured homes in Pasco County that are lived in everyday...All have survived many decades...

Insurance is rough anywhere in Florida...If you want the Sunshine and little risk..it is the price of Paradise..
