MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED LAND WITH A HOME 2 YEARS AGO. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A CHAMPION BUILT IN 2000. IT IS A PIECE OF JUINK. COME TO FIND OUT IT'S A CHANDELEUR. THE REALTOR AND SELLER DID NOT DISCLOSE ANY PROBLEMS. WE HAD TO DEAL WITH THE UNEXPECTED EXPENSES . WE WERE TRYING TO FIND OUT THE TRUE AGE OF THE HOME. IT SEEMS MUCH OLDER THAN THEY SAID. WE HAVE A LEAK IN THE SKYLIGHT IN OUR MASTER BATHROOM. THE AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING SYSTEM DID NOT WORK PROPERLY AND WE HAD TO REPLACE IT. THE CARPET WAS THE THINNEST GARBAGE I HAVE EVER SEEN. WE REPLACED IT. THE TOILETS WERE BARELY ATTACHED TO THE FLOORS. THOSE HAVE BEEN REPLACED. MY HUSBAND WENT TO MOVE A TELEPHONE JACK FROM THE WALL AND A LARGE CHUNK OF THE WALL CAME OUT. IT'S MADE OUT OF CHALKBOARD! SOME OF OUR WALLS DON'T EVEN MEET IN THE CORNERS. YOU CAN SEE LIGHT THROUGH THEM. THE DECOR IN THE HOUSE LOOKED LIKE IT WAS BUILT IN THE SEVENTIES. WE ARE THINKING OF TALKING TO A REAL ESTATE LAWYER. OBVIOUSLY CHANDELEUR WILL BE OF NO HELP. I AM GOING TO ALSO TRY A CHAMPION DEALER FOR HELP.

Hi! I purchased A repo chandeleur home from Whalen Energy, right now I am having so many complications. There are many things that were not done, that should have been before they left the premises. I am in need of contacting the manufacturer, but if they are not in business anymore, where do I start. Siding is off the dealers did not replace. Shingles that needed to be put where the leaks are, have not been put on. There are so many things. The dealers waited until the warranty that was covered under them expired and said " If you want someone to fix what needs to be fixed, pay somebody to do it." I didn't know whether to go to legal aide or manufacturer, so I'm taking a step to see if I can get some help. I called the BBB, but they told me until I contacted the manufacturer, they could take a step afterwards.

Thanks,

Kimberly S.

The plant is gone....tell the better business organization....but most states require dealers to sell homes that meet the HUD code....You might want to talk to your states agency involved with overseeing the business..

I might say you bought a used home and like a used car you should have inspected it before you bought it...like a used car most used homes are sold with NO warranty..I am sure you signed papers that said that.....Like a used car..problems are probably yours now....If you wanted a years warranty from a manufacturer..you should have bought a new home...By the way ALL manufacturers warranty's only cover the first buyer..Never the second buyer...Used anything is always buyer BEWARE...

I am sorry to be the one to tell you this BUT if you have not gotten any action on your problems for eight years it is time to stop waiting. The folks that sold you that home are not coming to your rescue. It would b e very difficult to build a case to make them take care of your home's problems after all this time. YOU need to get your roof fixed however you can. The longer you let it go the more expensive the fix will be.

Anyone that expects warranty service ... Don’t sit and wait. Make noise to the dealer, the factory the state and federal agencies.... contact your local MH Owners Associatrion for help... Waiting and hoping dont work.

You can find a list of state manufactured home owners associations at http://www.mobilehomeowners.org/assoc.php

A listing of state agencies is at http://mfdhousing.com/yellow_pages/saa.php3

I have a 2002 chandeleur home and have had nothing but problems with the roof leaking and can't get no one to do anything about it. I have went through the cheap insurance company that the finance company uses and they say manufactor default so I went through the champion inspector finally after trying to get them out here for 8 months and he said that it was the installers fault so no one wants to fix it so now I have a leaking roof and my 4 year old daughters room is like a swimming pool with mold so yes we live in 1 half of the home now until we can get something else. I had a flood specialist to come out and i he said 23 foot of the mobile home is soaked inside and out so yall tell me what do you do. THE COMPANY IS CRAP LIVING IN A BARN IS BETTER!!!!!!!
