How do I handle a monthly problem of management refusing to give me a reciept for rent payment? I'm told cancelled check is reciept. I know for a fact cancelled checks or copies are not as easy a solution for proof of payment. My neighbor was told she had not paid her rent in two months and had no cancelled checks or reciept to prove otherwise later finding out that the checks were deposited all at once on the third month. She is 84 years old and her son balanced her book. The most they will do in initial statement with date.

Some communities are computerized and those software programs don't always allow for the printing of receipts. It is true that your cancelled check is a receipt. If you want something else, why not ask them to make a copy of the check you give them, and initial that with the date?
