Where can I put my home?

Post by Rosemary Soares » Fri Mar 16, 2001 11:18 pm

I would like to learn more about purchasing a new manufactured home. My problem is that I live in Santa Barbara, California and it is very hard to purchase land here. I would be willing to live in Carpinteria, Summerland or Goleta (Goleta being the preferred place). How do you recinnebd U start my search for affordable land? Any links in mind?

For links, I would suggest that you look for retailers in the areas where you want to live. Another great place to start is with the California Manufactured Housing Institute by calling 909-987-2599. This is a state-based trade association that should also be able to help you. Or, as another alternative, you may want to look into the opportunities offered by a land-lease community. This choice allows you to keep a larger amount of down payment in the bank and under your control since you are leasing the land rather than buying. Information on this option can be obtained from calling the Western Manufactured Home Community Owners Association at 916-448-7002. Good luck, whatever you do!
